JobEnable.com is a first-of-its kind Web site where employers and employees alike can search and post job listings for disabled individuals.
The site was founded by disabled Network IP employee Matt Lawrence, who has suffered from Dystonia, a progressive neurological disorder, since the age of 13.
At the time of publication, more than 400 jobs from 42employers nationwide were posted. To date, companies like IBM, Compuware, and NASCAR have posted jobs.
After landing a job at telecommunications provider NetworkIP, Lawrence went to work on JobEnable.com through a partnership with his employer. The site premiered in late November 2007.
"As someone who had difficulty seeking employment because of my disability after achieving my B.A. degree, I'm thrilled to be working at NetworkIP where I am given the opportunity to use my talent and skills for the benefit of the company as well as the disabled community," Lawrence says.
JobEnable.com has the support of members of Congress, including Rep. Kenny Marchant (24th District, Texas), who wrote, "JobEnable.com is a valuable resource for anyone who feels they are being judged by their limitations instead of their abilities."
Those interested in posting or searching jobs through the site can visit www.jobenable.com.
